I want to answer the question on lieing but being an honest person. I do think one can lie, but still be on honest person. I think the internal meaning is honest. I feel that I lie from time to time, to keep the calm. I don't want the other person to be hurt, so I alter the truth. I might tell a bold lie to look out for another person or for myself. I might deflect to save the moment from choas.
I'm still an honest person. I don't steal or cheat. I might lie though. I don't intentially hurt people. I tell the truth more than anything, whether you like it or not. I call it how I see it. People know that they can trust me to be honest. Depending on who I'm with, I may be more blunt or I may cushion it. Either way, I'm still honest.

ReplyDeleteI agree with you concept of lying but still be an honest person. I am the same way, altering the truth only to keep others from being hurt. But I can't be plainly blunt, maybe with a little cushion as mentioned. Yes, deflecting could save the moment from chaos.
I totally believe that a person can lie and still be an honest person. I used to be not honest when I was a teenager. I believe that I am an honest person now. I may tell some lies, but they are usually to spare someone's feelings.
ReplyDeleteIt is true that we should be honest all the time whether people likes it or not but there are certain points in life where you are bound to lie. For instance there was a friend of mine who is not so attractive and every time she gets some new dress, she tries it on and takes a picture and upload in Facebook. She really has a bad taste of color and design of the dress she buys. But when she asks me how she looks, I couldn’t be brutally honest and tell her truth so I lie and tell her you look fine. At this point if I am honest and had to lie her, I might have a bad relation with her if she takes it in wrong way. So being a peace loving person I lie most of the time to keep the dispute aside.

Your concept of lying is very intriguing. But it is truth you cant be an honest person and still be lying on a day to day bases. yes there are some people that have good morals and good intentions but they lie only to keep from harming the other person. I like how you say " I'm still an honest person. I don't steal or cheat. I might lie though. I don't intentially hurt people." Most people when they set to lie its usually so they get the benefit of the doubt. But I like your concept. You can still be a good person even if you do lie intentionally.
ReplyDeleteI really like what you said about lying. I could say that I'm pretty much the same way as you. I find myself to be to honest sometimes in which I then realize that maybe I should have been a little more gentler with telling that person that. I also do find myself stretching the truth to either benefit myself or in some cases to avoid any major confrontations from people like at work. But a lot of people come up to me in order to get my honest oppinion of their situation.
